Shortlisted for Surrey Artist of the Year! Please come along and vote at the Exhibition in Farnham.

I am delighted to have been chosen as one of the finalists to take part in the Surrey Artist of The Year Competition at the New Ashgate Gallery in Farnham, Surrey, GU9 7PS.

The Exhibition opens with a Private View on Friday 14th September from 6-8pm and runs until 3rd November. This is your opportunity to see all the finalists' work and cast your vote for your favourite artist. Please put the dates in your diary! It is always worth a trip to the New Ashgate Gallery, because they have several exhibitions on at the same time, so there is plenty of food for thought and inspiration.

Surrey Artist of the Year Competition 2018

"The Surrey Artist of the Year competition is a partnership between New Ashgate and the Surrey Artists Open Studios to celebrate the wealth of creative talent in Surrey. Starting in 2009; this aspirational exhibition offers a collective of local quality arts and craft as voted for by the public during the hugely popular open studio season. The top scoring artists come together for a programme of events. There is a wide variety of artworks on show, all offering different materials and techniques: ceramics, glass, jewellery, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.

During the exhibition, members of the public are encouraged to vote for an artist; the artist with the most votes from public and judging panel is named Surrey Artist of the Year 2018. Voting must be done in person at the gallery.

The winner receives a bursary of £1,000 and a solo show. This year the winning artist is also gifted a stand at Contemporary Art Fair's annual show at Sandown Park - such an exciting opportunity!

We are delighted to announce that the Surrey Artist of the Year Competition will include the following artists from across the county: Ruta Brown, Nicky Chubb, Grace Ellen, Niki Hearnshaw, Diana Jane, Denise Jaques, Susie Lidstone, Jule Mallett, Liane Matthews, Janine Rees, Joe Szabo, Jane Silk, Jean Tolkovsky, Catherine Warren, Stephanie Wright."
Currently showing at The Porthminster Gallery, St Ives, Cornwall

'SCULPTURAL CERAMICS 14 JULY - 1 SEPTEMBER
This beautifully crafted show of 'museum-quality' ceramic artworks celebrates the excellence and innovative skills and techniques in British contemporary ceramics practice through the works of nine ceramicists and sculptors, each working to create sculptural 'fine art' forms as opposed to traditional tableware and domestic vessels:

Recent past news:

Last up was AppArt at Prior's Field School, Priorsfield Road, Godalming, Surrey GU7 2RH
This is a large annual show of paintings, indoor 3D sculptures and a fantastic array of outdoor sculptures, all displayed in a beautiful garden surrounding the elegant Arts and Crafts Building Prior's Field. Well worth a visit.

I also have sculptural work and tableware permanently displayed at the Art Shed at The Medicine Garden in Cobham, open every day from 10am-5pm (4pm on Sundays). The Gallery is a cooperative of 15 members displaying art and craft work in a range of materials. Again a delight to visit.

My simple rustic Dorking Country Tableware is available at No5 Interiors at 5, West Street, Dorking. This is a wonderful cornucopia of authentic vintage furniture and unique pieces with a unique atmosphere and some very special pieces of furniture and quirky 'objets d'art'!

Other plans for 2018 are to show at the Chelsea Town Hall with the Society of Designer Craftsmen in August:

Plans for 2018 included showing at Innovations in Ceramics, a major Ceramics Show held in Cambridge on Saturday 3 - Sunday 4 March. The two-day ceramics fair has recently been specifically devised to gather together the very finest of current new ideas in clay in Britain. Unfortunately I had to back out due to ill health, but I am hoping to return to the show in 2019.
